Ahoy, pirates and pirateesses! If your little one dreams of becoming a pirate or pirateess for at least one day, you absolutely must prepare a pirate party. Today we want to share with you the secrets on how to prepare an extraordinary pirate birthday party for your little sailors! Drop anchors and get ready for an adventure full of treasure, fun and sea monsters!
Pirate birthday: proper preparation is essential
Before you start preparing anything, you need to answer some important questions:
- Where will the party be held? Do you want to hire a playroom? Or do you have enough space to hold the birthday party in the garden or at home? Calculate exactly how many guests there will be and what your budget is and make your final decision
- What is my budget? The next step is to work out a budget for the whole event. Pirate decorations, invitations, cake, snacks - little sea wolves can be monstrously hungry after a great time.
- What will the children be doing? Everyone knows that pirates love adventure and crazy escapades, and they hate boredom! You can't let there be nothing to do during a pirate birthday party. Also develop a plan B, in case of bad weather, if you're organising it outside.
Pirate birthday invitations
Invitations for such a special event cannot be ordinary. It's best if you can indicate the thematic nature of the party right from the start. You can make the invitations yourself together with the birthday boy or girl, which will certainly be a lot of fun. Remember to draw the characteristic symbols for this kind of party on the cards, e.g. skulls, parrots, treasure chests, a pirate ship or maps leading to the treasure. The whole card can be red and white striped, which will also emphasise the style of the event.
Prepare pirate-style decorations
- Pirate Ship: Create a pirate ship in the living room! Use cardboard boxes to build a nautical ship. Paint sails, hang anchors and colourful pirate flags. Use toilet paper rolls to create cannons on board. You can also use a table. Tape it all around with cardboard, cut out circles to imitate the windows of the ship. Make a bar out of the tabletop to hold the existing pirate snacks. Also make a sail out of a sheet and hang a pirate flag on it.
- Treasures: Scatter treasures all over the room! Coins, jewels, pearls - anything that pirates might find on an expedition. Hide the treasures in chests or simply scatter them on the floor for the children to play with.
- Girland: One of the most pirate-themed decorations. Use red pennants on a string and put the letters of the birthday boy's name on them or create a whole "happy birthday" sign.
- Balloons: A prop not to be forgotten. You can ensure that they also fit in with the pirate theme. Red, white and black colours work best. Scatter them loosely around the room or tie them in prominent places.
Children's games at the pirate party
There can be no shortage of unique attractions during the pirate feast. At the very beginning, serve the children a real treasure hunt. Hand each little one a bottle with a map and let the search for lost treasure begin. During the game, you can designate special points where the children will have to do additional tasks to get further clues. Games and activities like this are sure to appeal to the playful participants.
If you have a garden, you can move the fun into the fresh air. Playground houses are the perfect place to set up a sea battle. The land is the water and the children have to take refuge in the ship at a given signal. Whoever stays in the sea last - loses! Pirate accessories for this type of playhouse, such as a telescope, wheel/steerer or tyrolean for the garden, would be great at this point. Then it will be even easier to imagine that the house is a ship straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean.
Organise a balloon sword battle. This way the children are sure to be fine, and they can feel the spirit of competition and cooperation. If the weather isn't good outside, you can organise a treasure hunt indoors, make puns or
Pirate food - What to eat at a pirate party?
Here, once again, you can let your imagination run wild. Anything reminiscent of pirate style will do. Prepare hot dogs with skewers of sails to resemble a ship. Prepare chocolate coins in gold paper - the children will feel like they have found a real treasure. Popcorn in red and white boxes, just like in the cinema, cupcakes with a pirate flag and, of course, a cake in the shape of a treasure chest!
